Introducing

THE ORPHA COLLECTION

Say hello to Orpha, our new fabric and furniture range inspired by the abstract forms and chromatic scales of the Orphism and Fauvism movements in early 20th century France.
Designed in-house with the help of our talented friend, artist Caro Gates, the collection’s primary influences include the works of Henri Matisse and Sonia Delaunay. It is underpinned by not only the relationship between non-figurative forms and bold use of colour, but also the way in which the composition can move freely between art and design, complementing the silhouettes of the furniture designs.

Orpha : Behind the Design

Orpha was inspired by the exploration of the relationship between colour and abstract form, as seen in the works of the early 20th century artists in France such as Henri Matisse and the Orphists (namely Sonia and Roberty Delaunay). Sonia, in particular, moved freely between the worlds of art and design, leading a successful career in fabric design, illustration and graphic design.
We loved the idea of creating an anti-figurative composition, like that synonymous with Sonia’s art, that could be applied to design and used in a living, functional way.
The Orpha pattern that decorates our new collection has been hand-painted by artist Caro Gates, before being digitised and put through a screen printer to be applied to our 100% cotton fabric.
