As the clocks have now gone forward and Summer time is officially here, we’re dreaming of warmer weather and wicker furniture to match.
Also called rattan, manila, manau or malacca, wicker furniture and its beautifully woven technique is a great way to add texture and a richness to a room. Plus, the natural material works well with the tropical furniture and fabric trends that we are seeing a lot of right now and which we’ll be seeing more of over the coming months.
We have many examples of stunning wicker furniture to update your home for Spring and Summer, here are a few of our favourites…
This late 1970’s retro wicker peacock armchair, with its large open back and intricately woven seat, is a dramatic example of the wicker furniture style. Create a statement with this armchair, which doesn’t have to be confined to a sunroom. Team it with warm textiles or have it stand out next to a colourful interior.
Side tables don’t have to conform to the standard wooden examples that we’re used to. This beautifully, contemporary, rattan side table is perfect as a coffee table or to display your favourite trinkets. Its natural colour makes is perfect for a more traditional home or it could create a cool twist for something more modern.
As the weather gets warmer is there a better way to enjoy your home or garden than with a long, cool drink? This vintage bamboo wicker trolley, with mottled glass shelves, would make an ideal drinks trolley or alternatively it could be used as a side table. We currently have a pair of these trolleys which are being sold separately.
It’s time to leave the harsh Winter months behind us and start dreaming of the Summer and wicker furniture – and we hope you agree that with these examples that dream is just around the corner.
